Second waterslide name revealed for Coral Reef Waterworld    3 August, 2017

Families with young children will be able to enjoy Aqua Splash, a more gentle waterslide, reflected in its relaxing green colour scheme, which promises to be packed with lots of fun elements to keep riders entertained till the very last splash.

Aqua Splash is the perfect way for parents to introduce their younger children and toddlers to Coral Reef’s iconic family of waterslides. It allows younger children to ride the slide together with an adult, while immersed in tranquil colours and gentle sounds, before enjoying an interactive fun game towards the end of the ride.

The slide will be customisable, with a selection of eight different colour and sound shows, which the riders select before taking their turn. Sensors inside the slide will cause the colours and sounds to change, further enhancing the rider's experience.

Aqua Splash is one of two slides that will pass through the waterslide tower, so people eagerly waiting in the queue will be able to hear riders passing overhead. This will provide a more unique experience for both riders and those waiting below. After leaving the clear section behind, a darker section will indicate that the Aqua Splash interactive game is about to start.

A total of 15 touch pads will illuminate inside the tube for riders to hit as they go by, scoring points on their journey. If a touch pad is triggered, sounds will be heard to indicate successful contact. The more you hit, the more you score. At the end of the slide, an LED display will reveal the riders points scored, time taken and the best score of the day.

Cllr Iain McCracken, executive member for culture, corporate services and public protection said: “Aqua Splash is the least extreme of the five new slides, with its name signalling a gentler, more child friendly ride. It allows family members to experience the fun of the water with their little ones, whilst taking part in the exciting interactive features.

“The slide design really is a feat of engineering in the way that it curves back round through the tower, so those below can hear the cries of excitement of riders overhead. I think this slide may also inspire a bit of fun family competition too, as family riders aim to beat each others scores as they take their turn on the slide.”

Storm Chaser was the first of the new Coral Reef waterslide names to be revealed. Further waterslide names and details of the experiences on offer will be revealed over the coming weeks.
