First waterslide name revealed for Coral Reef Waterworld    1 August, 2017

Thrill seekers will be able to experience the choppy waters of the Storm Chaser, when the attraction is re-opened in September.

Riders will be rocked from side to side as they go down the waterslide, with feelings akin to being on a ship battling through rough seas. Brave shipmates can take the journey on their own or younger riders can recruit a willing family member to join them on their raft adventure.

Storm Chaser will send riders into the unknown on a voyage of discovery and exploration, as they race down the slide on a raft into stormy waters.

The slide, with its nautical blue and grey colour scheme, will be customisable and will allow riders to choose their adventure before they take to their raft. Eight different colour and sound shows will be available with lighting effects, so each voyage will bring a new experience.

Inside the slide, riders will experience different effects, such as blinking lights, disco lighting and coloured daylight rings, which give the sensation of getting faster and faster. All of this will be accompanied by sound effects throughout the slide.

Cllr Iain McCracken, executive member for culture, corporate services and public protection said: “The excitement for the new waterslides at Coral Reef is really mounting as we are able to reveal more details. Visitors will love being able to choose how they experience  Storm Chaser each time they ride.

“I have no doubt that this slide will be a firm favourite with many of our family visitors, as it will allow parents to ride with a child or for friends to share the experience together. The question is, will our young pirates be brave enough as the seas can get very rough!”

Further waterslide names and details of the experiences on offer will be revealed over the coming weeks.
